Senior Mortgage Underwriter

Our client a new mortgage entrant with a globally recognised brand is seeking a senior mortgage underwriter to be the main person within the organisation to look after mortgage underwriting as they launch their mortgage products in the coming months. What You’ll Do:
•    Assess and approve mortgage applications within your mandate.
•    Conduct initial assessments and manage the mortgage process from decision in principle to letter of offer.
•    Review supporting documents such as credit reports, bank statements, and payslips.
•    Build strong relationships with Mortgage Relationship Managers and provide guidance on products and processes.
•    Continuously improve procedures and suggest enhancements to deliver a seamless experience for our borrowers.
•    Mentor and train new team members, contributing to a culture of learning and growth.
•    Collaborate on business development and marketing strategies. 
•    Contribute to the rollout of new mortgage products and services.
•    Participate in projects aimed at enhancing underwriting and operational processes.
•    Meet quality and volume targets for underwriting activities.
•    Foster strong relationships with team members and senior stakeholders.
•    Contribute to the overall success and growth of the Company.

What We’re Looking For:
Qualifications:
•    APA/QFA or equivalent certification.

Skills and Experience:
•    A third-level qualification in finance, mathematics, or a business-related field (preferred).
•    Extensive credit knowledge and mortgage underwriting experience.
•    Strong understanding of mortgage-related matters.
•    Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
•    Excellent communication skills with a client-focused mindset.
•    Ability to meet tight deadlines and thrive in a team environment.
•    Proficiency in MS Office Suite, DocuSign, and online mortgage application systems.
